Mudslides are a delectable drink that makes me think about the holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My wife and I always have a mudslide during the holiday season. The ingredients for mudslide, Kalua and Baileys, are the main reason we enjoy them so much. Unfortunately that’s the extent of how we’ve typically drank a mudslide, but to be honest I think it could be a year round cocktail.
I’m going to put together a list of the top 5 recipes for a mudslide review so you know which one is the absolute best! First off, a mudslide is basically a dessert cocktail made from Baileys, Kalua, vodka and most recipes use a cream as well. Mudslide the drink can be the start of any cocktail party or more likely the end of a party since it’s such a great dessert!

When I first sipped this mudslide vodka drink it was clearly smooth and creamy. I wouldn’t classify this as too strong in terms of the vodka content. I hardly notice vodka is in the drink, which I appreciate. I really enjoyed the level of baileys coming through as you can see this recipe has more baileys than kalua or vodka. This offered a good balance of smooth richness. This is definitely one of my favorites.

I started into this mudslide and immediately noticed it was different. When you look over the recipe you will notice there is no cream in this one. It definitely impacts the taste, but not necessarily in a bad way. It isn’t as rich, but without the cream you get a stronger flavor of the baileys and kalua. It is still very good, but in a lower calorie way. I suspect this one will still land as one of my favorites.

Upon first taste, I knew this one was a little different from a creamy perspective. Looking at the recipe I see there is an emphasis on the baileys, kalua and cream and it showed in my tasting. I felt this one was a little too rich and creamy and it makes sense based on the makeup of the recipe. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but for me I thought it was too rich. Some may have a different opinion than I. This one will be in the lower half for sure.

Although when looking at the recipe this one appears to be less strong vs some others I felt like a strong vodka taste came across. It is a little deceiving when you look at the recipe, but I guess that may be a result of not putting enough of the baileys or kalua in to bring the flavors. One of my notes was that there is too much vodka, which isn’t actually correct. It just needs more of the baileys and kalua. This one will definitely be in the lower half.

Last, but not least we have another creamy and delicious mudslide. It wasn’t too strong in terms of the vodka content and it drank down smoothly. There was a good balance of creaminess and flavor from the baileys and kalua. I really enjoyed it. It will definitely be amongst the top favorites.
